Default Why has nobody tried this???

So some of you know I have a company that locates missing bodies. I have a trained bloodhound who can find a human bone in a field in just a minute or two. It rained her myself and it took every day for a year. Now I am certain I could train a dog to find anything. They don't care what they are looking for as long as they get a reward. They nose on a dog is able to separate smells and you could train a dog to locate any "treasure" you like.

Seems like a way better system than some LRL with a calculator glued on top. You still could glue a calculator to the dog if you wanted....

Can you train him to find large buried gold statues?

Default If it has odor, yes...

You see if we walk into a kitchen we can smell a cake, they can smell eggs, flour, sugar........
If an item has odor a dog can find it. My dog can and has found bones buried several feet under ground. Bone over 100 years old. And she only alerts on human bones. She will walk right buy a cow bone lying right on the ground. Most dogs would kill to get a bone to chew on but she is very single minded and only seeks the right target.

Excellent. We know dogs can be taught to locate truffles which are used for cooking, and valued more than gold. This means they can also be taught to locate gold that has been buried a long time. It has a distinctive odour that a dog should be able to recognize.
