Here is an inexpensive camera for looking into areas you might not want to stick your hand or face into. It is wifi connected to your smartphone. You will need a 12v battery. I plan to mount it on a long pole. Nice thing about it is it can record video if you like, similar a GoPro camera, not as good of quality picture but it will focus 1 cm -- 50 m and works in low light. You don't have to record with it, just view it live on your smartphone.

For power supply something like one of these dc voltage booster and a lithium battery is lightweight and should have plenty of power. Camera uses 75 ma. I like the lithium polymer as they have a protection circuit (don't need fancy charger, I use 6v solar cell) but other cells will work. And you don't need the booster if you have a 12-24 volt battery. But I tried to keep it lightweight and I already had these sitting on my shelf.
Something like these but do your own shopping. https://www.ebay.com/itm/39361848821...8AAOSwksBbYXpD https://www.ebay.com/itm/22448676977...EAAOSw9P9gu09N |

LOL
I looked at those endoscopes which have a tiny camera on a flexible cable but they only focus up very close like a few cm. You could never examine a large area, so the back-up cameras are more what I need. I want to be able to look inside medium-large openings for snakes or other wild animals. I have a telescoping pole to mount it on. Might need to mount a small torchlight for very dark areas. Doesn't need much light 0.1 lux. I guess just a low-power LED. Note in the photo the yellow wire is not connected because this is for when you put your car in reverse it turns on the camera. And I guess off-season you could mount it in your car foreward looking and record any traffic accidents/crimes. |
