superscan circuit
Hi guys
I would appreciate it a lot if someone could post the diagram of superscan. I had purchased it before 15 years, and there is something going on in the power supply section. Regards |

Never heard of it, can you provide a link?

Hey Mike
It is a PI produced back few decades. I dont know many details but this specific copy that i own was built by an engineer who unfortunately passed away. Very loyal full analog device and good build. But needs repair. |

Superscan is one of the deeper PI detectors especially for big objects with 1x1 coil.
Original Superscan was designed and was construct by Eric Foster. Jeg look at Geotech1 for your problem. There is schematic of power supply, if not inform me. Regards

Γιώργο ευχαριστώ πολύ! Το βρήκα το σχέδιο σε ένα παλιό αρχείο! By the way, is it geotech1 accessible??? Each time i try to find something it says private:!!! |

You must register and then its accessible

Don't know if this is any help, but thr book "Inside the Metal Detector" has some plans for PI machines. The power supply is fairly simple with these plans.

Thank you Mike. Perhaps i ll purchase the book for personal interest. For now, i have already traced the problem and i am waiting for the components. All the pwr supply stage went off plus the mosfet switch. (By accident i had connected the batteries in reverse!!!) Regards |

Think that just a single diode could prevent this to happen...

The PI plans in that book are probably not as complex as a Foster design. But the book is a good red.

The book is very good, especially for a non specialist...

Thank you friends. Imho, Eric makes it unnecessary complicated in powering the device. There are far easier ways to produce symmetrical supply without messing with so many different reference points.

Don't forget that this schematic is about 40 years old!!!

You are very right George! I have recently purchased a single IC regulator which i feed with only positive voltage and gives two outputs +/- 5V at 100mA! Just a single IC!!! Eric for that job uses three regulators, two transistors, a TL555, a bunch of caps and resistances and three different reference points. Great and knowledgeable engineer though! This PI is collectable!
