It is better and maybe more cheap to buy from ebay a DDS generator with frequency read.
Then connect a power amplifier with a transformer and you are ok.

Default The 8038

This chip has been around for years. It is fine if you don't care about frequency accuracy. It will drift in frequency depending on ambient temperature so if this is for some kind of electronic dowsing and you want frequency stability this is not what you want.

Also, what is this thread doing in the dowsing section? It should be LRL sections.

Geo has the right idea on this. Buy a simple off-the-shelf signal generator and amplify the signal (as if amplification does anything!). The chips that use a RC network to get the frequency (e.g. 555 or others) will drift because of temperature changes and the resistor and capacitor both change with temperature, the cap more than anything, so the original frequency being generated changes. A crystal driven or PIC driven signal generator is much more stable.
