Default New handheld locator

Tim WIlliams (lrlman.com) has a new handheld locator called the Pathfinder. Don't know much about it, but there is a chamber for adding a sample/witness in one mode. Another mode is frequency driven probably very similar to the EFNMR2015.

Tim said it was basically the same as the EFNMR2015. Most people seem to be interested only in the handheld type locators so I guess this is the reason. I can only assume the response should be stronger with the rod so near the internal antenna.

On 2012 i constructed something similar.
As usually i never test my lrls so I sent it to a guy for tests but he never return it back. He said that it was very good
Here is the project

Yes, I've built locators with DDS generator on a swivel handle. Tim's equipment is quite a bit different. He does not use square wave. I haven't hooked up the EFNMR2015 to an oscilloscope but I've listened to it through my electronic receiver--at least what I can hear--the IC (Image Correction) mode comes out a little bit garbled. I guess the receiver needs better filters. I really don't know but I can hear two or three different signals are being transmitted. It's more that my receiver can handle but it still works. So yeah, it might appear to look like an ordinary frequency generator but it's quite a bit more advanced. Once I got the receiver hooked up I shelved my Contraption. Too many false signals. The EFNMR2015 is a world better. Tim said he designed the waveform to penetrate better. His tests showed square wave does not penetrate metal containers, glass, etc.

As much as I like the EWC (Electronic Weight Cancelling)--some say it is the best in the industry--I like the TV (Target VerifY) about as good as anything. It cuts out mineralization and is easy to use. Just start out in IC (Image Correction) and wait a few minutes before circling the generator with L-rod(s). Then I turrn up the EWC and see if I still have a signal line. If so I turn to TV and wait a few minutes and see if the line is still there.
