It is better and maybe more cheap to buy from ebay a DDS generator with frequency read.
Then connect a power amplifier with a transformer and you are ok.

Geo has the right idea on this. Buy a simple off-the-shelf signal generator and amplify the signal (as if amplification does anything!). The chips that use a RC network to get the frequency (e.g. 555 or others) will drift because of temperature changes and the resistor and capacitor both change with temperature, the cap more than anything, so the original frequency being generated changes. A crystal driven or PIC driven signal generator is much more stable.
