You won't find a consensus as to the type of signal that gold is "supposed" to exhibit because gold does not produce a signal of any type (when a frequency is radiated into the nearby ground or air). It is a physical impossibility.
If there were a "sympathetic radiation" produced, as you've been told and you obviously believe, there would be no reason at all to employ hand-held error-prone dowsing rods as a sensing device.
Not to mention the fact that all the Physics texts (and axioms) in this world would need to be re-written.
