Sorry for jumping around but some more on cell phone magnetometer. I could be wrong but I think it is more accurate to measure your magnetic field using your cell phone than relying on government estimates. But it is important to calibrate your cell phone magnetic sensor by moving it around in a figure 8 pattern.
