Hello forum members,

I found the schematic of Andy Flind Magnetic Field Detector in the internet. I heard that this is a good start for an lrl. However, the image is not clear and it lacks three (3)resistor values in 4066 section. Is anybody out there who has knowledge on the correct values of the resistors or a copy of the article where it is published? Any assistance is highly appreciated. My e-mail add is errel74@yahoo.com. In some of Dell Winders old brochure material he says if a magnetometer was three-hundred times more sensitive it could pick up a discriminated signal line from a frequency generator. Not likely a magnetic field detector is going to pick that up.

Hello rez, thank you for the reply. Is the one you posted another magnetic field detector of Andy Flind or different. I don't see any 4066 used in that circuit. Can u explain about that circuit?

Resistor at pin6 of 4016 is 1M.
Resistor from 47n to pin12 of 4016 is 82k.
The other resistor (V+ to pin 12) is 22K.
But i am afraid that there are errors.

Thanks for the resistor values Geo. In case the values are not correct, i will make some experiment.
Anyway, can you explain why a bilateral switch (4066) is used after the CA3130, I mean what is its purpose? I'm not an electronic expert so I need assistance. I wish i have the complete article of this project for a detailed explanation.

The purpose of 4066 or 4016 is to create a tone (beep) generator.

Thanks Geo. So the function of 4066 or 4016 (bilateral switches) are tone generators. I don't expect that these component is capable of producing tones. Maybe it incorporates positive and negative voltage to produce amplified ac output to drive a transducer, this is only my opinion. Now its clear to me.

Hi Reza Ver, Andy Flind's Magnetic Detector is very powerful and can detect long time buried treasure at long distances. I knew this from an old forum and from a guy who is a former member this forum who is now inactive. In fact,I build this several years ago following the original schematic to find stray magnetic fields inside my house using transformer as its sensor and is very sensitive. I lost my files when my computer was corrupted, so now i am begging to other forum members to have the original schematic and if possible, the original issue of the magazine where it published. I think this circuit is now being modified and mass produced and according to testimonies of user's it's a very effective lrl.

If i remember good it generate a square signal near to 400Hz.

Hi Ban, Yes i received your email with attachment. I think it is different from the original from Andy Flind. The original uses TL062 in input followed by LF411, then going to CA3130 and 4066 which serve as tone generator. Please look in your email

This is a standard fluxgate magnetometer. I have build several of these and they don't detect gold, only magnetic measurements and not signal lines. I know, I've tried.

I didn't intent to make it sound like a magnetometer will pick up a discriminated signal line from a frequency generator. I said I read it would require a device 300 times more sensitive than a magnetometer. I don't know anything about mags, but I doubt it is possible to amp one up 300 times and still be able to discern anything.
