It's interesting (or better: highly problematic...) how superstitious even some
long-term experienced gold-diggers are:

Alaska Gold Diggers shows how some girls from California wanna reactivate the
legacy of their grand-pa, going therefore to Nome and Fairbanks / Alaska (2013).

This whole, a little bit scripted reality docu is pretty cute and funny and it would
be great if more such cool treasure-hunting babes would go for gold and treasures,
not just receiving those as presents. :D

In the 3rd episode (S01E03) you can see how an old gold-miner from Fairbanks
shows the girls how to look for larger gold-deposits with a L-Rod.

Of course this is totally nonsense especially at an area where you may find
gold in more or less higher concentration all over!
It just makes them feel good or may be an interesting activity, I don't know...

Philosophically seen people of all periods had the need to understand how
nature works and hold on to something that would built up trust in the world
they live and self-confidence for more strenght to survive.

And they've totally mixed up scienctific approaches with superstitious believe.
We see this even nowadays with astrology versus astronomy.

btw. L-Rod psychics have been scientifically tested already all over the world
and the results are not higher as the mathematically probability-chances.
They can not do any wonders, they don't feel water or metal with their hands,
the copper or whatever rods don't move by magic power-strings, attached from
the ground and there are no divine forces involved. All this is pure wish-thinking
which may makes the L-rod user to feel good or very important, but in fact:
He just cheats himself !!! :(

Just what can lead to some success is the knowledge of ground- and surface structures
so if such person guesses or "feels" where could be possible something to find, it may get
better finding-rates by their long time experience and intuition in this field of search.
But of course it's betraying if they use those real reasons to make their successes look
like as if they where based on higher or magical talents.

The L-Rods may be only some crystalization-point for their intuiton and experiences
but everyone has more or less "feeling" about a situation or region and could be lucky
in hiting the right spot. For successful treasure hunters its pretty important to distinct
promising looking areas from not so good ones, by experience, feeling or whatever.

But keep the pure by chance stuff out of the game.
Just imagine how crazy it would be carrying 3 dices, throw them every 10 foot-steps
and only if you have 3 times the 1 or the 6 on top, you dig there, because:

"The divine oracle has revealed the treasure-spot!"

And for the magical thinking person not the whole thing was completly absurd,
but only the chosen numbers bad, so next time it takes 3x3 or whatever for better success.

Perhaps I will try it sometimes just for fun and to see how long it takes to get
3 x 1 or 3 x 6 and what can be found at such a "magical" located spot at all. :D
