Hi all

I want to build a really useful and practical PD(long range detector), can any body help me to find the right place for building it?

Why not simply at your home?

Hi dear WM6,

oh its for my poor english:D when I said "right place" I want to say "which thread" or "topic" is good for building.

I am sorry again, its for my poor English,

so could you please help me to find a really good and useful PD for building? If I have to pay to buy documentation its ok. I am just need a good and useful PD.

With the best wishes for you

Hi dear wubian,

I hope our friend Geo would say: the more complete schematic to build PD you can find in book "Inside the metal detector" available to buy here on forum.

Oh :oh: WM6, I think you are Geo:D sorry I'm confused... you are a kind man,

you point to a PD device on that book called "TOTEM" right?

between TOTEM and mineoro schematic that already posted on this forum, which one is better and more useful?

thank you WM6,

Greeting Qiaozhi,

could you please tell me more about TOTEM? is it right to compare it with mineoro? I want to know which one is better?

TOTEM is more documented in details, so I would suggest you TOTEM.

Mineoro is very expensive ->
The cost is around $8,000 (>£5,000) for an FG80.

The fully disclosed design for TOTeM is only the price of the book ->
www.geotech1.com/itmd (http://www.geotech1.com/itmd)
I think you are probably located in Europe, so the price is £28, with shipping.
Of course, you will need to build TOTeM yourself, but I can guarantee that it will be at least as good as any of the Mineoro models for a lot less money. Many LRLs are discussed in Chapter 13, including the FG80.

Without actually working it out, I would estimate the total cost (including the cost of the book) would be less than £50. That's 1% of the price of an FG80!

Hi Qiaozhi,

could I ask you to let me know which metal are detected with TOTem? I meant It detect only gold or any metals?

No detector can be made to detect only gold. However, you can make it more sensitive to gold by using a higher frequency.
Andreas already stated this previously concerning the Crypton.

TOTeM detects ferrous while ignoring non-ferrous, but operates at 65kHz, which is a good frequency for gold detection.

Hi Qiaozhi,

Thanks for your replies and for share your valuable information.

you said TOTeM will ignore non-ferrous, yes? it means that the gold or silver do not detected by TOTem in default mod. could I ask you to give some more details about it?

and could I ask you to let me know in how distance it can detect metals?

Regards

  That of course should have been "detects non-ferrous while ignoring ferrous". Oops!

TOTeM will detect gold and silver in default mode. That was a massive typo.

OK - let's make one thing very clear here. As a skeptic, I do not believe that any LRL can detect either fresh (or even longtime buried) gold at medium or long distances. And, I consider it a ripoff and a scam to advertise these devices as having this capability, when the whole concept goes completely against all known physical laws. Of course, this doesn't stop anyone experimenting with LRLs, and I personally have supported this activity in the forums. In my view it is better to spend a little money experimenting and getting an LRL education, rather than handing over great wads of cash to LRL scam artists and learning a very expensive lesson that way.

Several members here have developed their own LRLs, and some are convinced that they can detect buried treasure at a distance. Unfortunately no-one has ever supplied a complete set of plans so that others can duplicate the effect. Hence the purpose of TOTeM. Everything is open, and nothing is hidden. No miniscule schematics that no-one can read, no secret ingredients, and no need to be confused. The electronics in TOTeM actually do something, unlike some commercial units that have a jumble of components connected in a random way to fool the technically challenged, and then rely on a swinging handle to point to the treasure. These devices are complete nonsense. If you build TOTeM, you can experiment with the pistol detector concept for a small price. Maybe you'll be successful at finding treasure, maybe not. There's no guarantee ... except that you will have exactly the same chance as with any other LRL on the market.

Sure the TOTeM is more simple to build, and maybe better than the PD. I told many times the PD project is very complicated, and most of people who finish this project said no good results as LRL.
TOTem is the right choice, buy the book and start the construction.

Hi every body

First I want to say: Dear Qiaozhi thank you for all your help and support. so finally I gonna build a TOTeM! and I will post my pics here as soon as possible.

but still have one question and hope somebody could clear me: how meters are consider as medium or long distance?

If this device can detect gold and etc on maximum 50 meters, I want to say its perfect for my purpose. so 50 meters distance is short, medium or long distance?

It is very, very, very long distance, you never achieved in a whole life. No matter of LRL you use.

But I support your persistent work and admire your great enthusiasm.

Short range refers to the detection distances achievable with standard metal detectors. Medium distances are in meters (probably under 100m), and long distances can be in kilometers (depending on what whopping lies the manufacturer thinks they can get away with). Obviously there will be some overlap between these definitions.

Perhaps others would like to comment...

My friend this is just an ultrasound detector for measuring noices that comes around 40 Khz. So it will not work has an LRL
