End of Remote Sensing Forum

I just saw the announcement that the Remote Sensing forum will be removed from Geotech forums.
This is scheduled to happen within the next few days.

The Remote Sensing forum will be moved to a new website named longrangelocators.com
At the same time, the Geotech website will be overhauled to improve the main website and to upgrade the Geotech forums with the new version of vBulletin 4.

When the changes are done, there will be no LRL forums or threads left in the Geotech forums.
They will all be moved to longrangelocators.com
This change will remove all dowsing and electronics which have no scientifically proven theory from the Geotech forums.
So Geotech will remain with only the real electronics forums which have made Geotech the leading technical metal detecting forum in the world.
I am speculating the new longrangelocators.com site will become the world's largest LRL forum in the world.

Will present Geotech members be moved/doubled to new forum too, or members need to register as new there again?

And what about dividing new Tech forum to: BFO, VLF/IB, PULSE, GPR and others sub-forums to improve transparency?

There is no reverse engineering here.
I simply saw what Carl-NC posted and repeated it here because it is hard to find unless you know where to look.

I don't know about the plans for the Tech forum.
Carl knows what his plans are.
I would think that he will first make the change that he announced, then maybe later he will make other changes if he thinks they are an improvement.
From what I read about the vBulletin new version 4, there will be some good features which we don't have in the Geotech forums yet.
I think it may take some time before all the new features are implemented fully.

The LRL forum, all the posts, and the membership info will be transferred to the new web site. You will not have to re-register. Everything else, including memberships, will remain here. However, the forums will end up completely separate, so new visitors will have to register twice.

I may slightly reorganize the Geotech forums, haven't decided.

Geo, the purpose of longrangelocators.com is to provide a transparent repository for LRL information, and to give people a venue for open discussions. My lack of "belief" in LRLs is precisely why I provide this.

The reason why I speculate the new longrangelocators.com site will become the world's largest LRL forum in the world is because it already is the largest LRL forum in the world.
I see no reason why this will change except maybe it will become larger.
When the LRL section is separated from Geotech, then we will not see engineers becoming angry to see non-scientific BS in their electronic forum.
And the LRL enthusiasts will know they have their own home which is not cluttered with real science to spoil their dreams.
In my opinion, this is a good change to improve both the Geotech forums and the Remote Sensing forum.

It is well known that most people do not like to see big changes.
But when they see how things progress after the improvements are made, then they are happy to see that these changes were made.
Just my opinion.

Geotech already has long range locators which will remain in the Geotech forum.
These are found in the Geophysics forum in threads about ground resistivity, Induced polarization, sonar, magnetometers, and other electronic instruments which detect metals or ores from long distance.

These will remain in the Geotech forums because they are instruments which work, and the builders of these instruments do not refuse to prove they work.
We also see this equipment can be demonstrated by any competent electronic technician to detect real signals which are repeatable.
They can use electronic instruments to show graphically that the electronic signal exists.
Finally, these instruments can be shown to do what their manufacturers claim they are designed to do by passing a test which is administered by a competent engineer.

I have seen no LRL in the Remote Sensing forum which has the qualities of these instruments I described in the Geophysics forum.
I think these are the criteria which will determine whether a detector is permitted in the Geotech forum or if it is sent to the LRL forum.

I suppose if someone shows their LRL is detecting a real electronic signal that can be shown graphically with electronic instruments, and it also can pass a test which is administered by a competent engineer to show it can do what it is designed to do in a repeatable way, it may find its way into the Geotech forums.

But this only my speculation. These decisions are made by Carl and his administrators.
