I bought a 1987 Chevy S10 Blazer mainly for THing!! I plan on customizing it for TREASURE HUNTING TRIPS. It is a work in progress! It has a V6, 2.8 Liter engine and runs good. Since I got it I have repaired the brakes, replaced the water pump and alternator, fixed an exhaust leak. Most of the dash needs replacement and so does the radio. I feel like a teenager with his 1st car! Would like to hear any stories about "PROJECT VEHICLES" especially if your customizing it for TH'ing!!! or even if you are just working on repairing a vehicle back to its original form!! Thanks Joe

Not for treasure hunting, I am (very slowly) restoring a 1968 Mustang. It was my first car, and I managed to hang on to it over the years. Currently rebuilding the front-right corner where a leaky battery ate up the metal.

My daughter has a 2000 Mustang which I occassionaly work on and have been impressed with it more than I thought I would be! It made me think about getting a restorable late 1960's or early 1970's Mustang. A few years ago there was a partially restored 1967 Mustang for sale in my neighborhood! It had a rebuilt engine and transmission and all the other major components had been either restored or rebuilt! All it needed was a new paint job and most of the interior needed to be redone! All they wanted was $2500.00 but that was way too much for me at that time! Currently I do not want to incur any new monthly notes! So my S10 Blazer is strickly a cash only project for any repairs! Most of the parts come from the Parts House or from the junk car salvage yard! And because of its age most parts are really cheap compared to buying new parts for a new vehicle! Once I get thru with my Blazer project, I'm..................................... re-thinking about getting a restorable late 1960's Mustang! I like restoring old cars/trucks......I guess that it brings back memories of my youth!!!!!.................HH..........Joe

My wife will be ordering a 2008 Dodge Sprinter van. It's going to be one big empty vehicle when we get it. We're going to mod that thing into a traveling beast. Won't be good for off roading, but we'll be able to get close enough to out of the way spots that I can find a way to get where I want to.

When I'm just playing in the "back yard" I ride a 2005
Outlander 400. Gives me about a 50 mile radius to play
in with only the factory tank.

For serious expeditions I use an '81 Ford F250 4wd to
get "out there".

robotic regards,

Tom

................Had to GARAGE my Blazer for the time being! Has a serious electrical short somewhere! Twice it has lost all power in traffic, mechanical and electrical. In the meanwhile, I will work on the body and interior restoration! Also will tear out all the old carpet and replace it!..............but like I said it is a work in progress!................HH..............Joe
